Chap. 74.—An ACT to amend and re-enact the sixth section of the act
to incorporate The Little Sisters of the Poor of Richmond, approved
April 17th, 1874.
Approved February 2, 1875.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the-sixth section of an act, approved April seventeenth,
eighteen hundred and seventy- -four, entitled an act to incor-
porate The Little Sisters of the Poor in Richmond, be
amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 6. The said lands and all sech moneys and property
sball be exclusively devoted to the purposes aforesaid; and
no aged white person applying for admission, who is desti-
tute and of good moral character, shall be excluded or pre-
ferred by reason of the place or country of his or her birth,
or on account of his or her religious profession or opinion;
but to the number of twenty, if necded, a preference shall
be given, at all times, to those born in the city of Fredericks-
burg; and in view of the beneficent and purely charitable
character of this institution, its property shall be exempt
from city and state taxation ‘until such time as the legisla-
ture shall otherwise provide by law.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
