Chap. 64.—An ACT to authorize a new election in the Town of Farm-
ville, Virginia, on the question of a Subscription to the Farmville,
Charlottesville and Stanardsville Narrow Gauge Railroad.
Approved February 32, 1875.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be lawfal for the council of the town of Farmville to
make an order requiring the sergeant of said town, at the
next general election for corporation officers, or at any other
time, not less than thirty days from the dgte of said order,
which shall be designated therein, to open a poll and take
the sense of the qualified voters on the question whether the
council shall subscribe to the stock of the Farmville, Char-
lottesville and Stanardsville Narrow-Gauge Railroad: pro-
vided, that the aforesaid subscription shall be made condi-
tional upon a subscription by the counties of Buckingham
and Albemarle of one hundred thousand dollars each.
2. It shall be the duty of the registrar of voters for said
town to sit at the town hall in said town on some day, not
less than five days before the day on which such election is
to take place, and after publishing notice thereof for ten
days, at which time he shall purge the registration lists of
all persons liable to be stricken therefrom, in the manner
now prescribed by law for purging the lists of voters.
3. The said election, when held, shall be conducted and
determined in all respects according to the provisions of
chapter sixty-one of the Code of eighteen hundred and
seventy-three, and all proceedings had by virtue of such
election shall be subject to the provisions of said chapter
and to thé provisions of the charter of the said Farmville,
Charlottesville and Stafiardsville Narrow-Gauge Railroad
Company, and to acts amendatory thereof.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
