21 of the Code of 1873, in relation to Contributing Members of V«
unteer Artillery Companies.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That seetic:

§ 12. Each volunteer company which is armed and uni
forined, may, besides its regular and active members, enre.
thirty contributing members, except artillery companies,
which may enroll sixty contributing members, on payment
in advance by each person desiring “to become such contri-
buting member, of not less than twenty dollars per annum,
which money shall be paid into the company treasury, and
applied to the purchase of uniforms for the rank and file of
the active members of the company, or to such purpose as
may be authorized by the by-laws of such company.
2. Whenever, in the opinion of the governor, the interest
of the volunteer service requires it, in “the case of detachod
companies, an election may be held for a junior second lieu-
tenant; and the governor is hereby empowered and autho-
rized to commission the same.
. This act shall be in force from its passage.
