Chap. 320.—An ACT to incorporate The Laurel. Fork and Ore Knob
Nuarrow-Gauge Railroad Company, in the County of Washington.
Approved March 31, 1875.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That James L.
Cole, James Crow, George Graham, John B. Allison, William
Gray, and such other persons as they may associate with
them, are hereby created a body politic and corporate by
the name of The Laurel Fork and Ore Knob Narrow-Gauge
Railroad Company, to construct a road from some point on
the Atlantic, Mississippi and Ohio railroad, not cast of Glade
spring, in the county of Washington, to the Tennegsee line
to connect with any road now built, or which-may hereafter
be built of the same gauge; and the said corporators are
hereby authorized to open books of subscription at Glade
spring, Friendship, Occola, Emory, Saltville, Abingdon, and
Bristol, to be made by individuals or corporations to the said
railroad.
2. That the capital stock of*said company shall not be less
than fifty thousand dollars, nor more than one million dol-
lars, to be divided into shares of one hundred dollars each.
Whenever fifty thousand dollars shall be subscribed, and two
er centum upon the same shall be paid, the subscribers shall
e incorporated by the name and for the purposes mentioned
in the first section of this act; and shall have full power and
authority to effect the same, subject to the provisions of the
general railroad laws of Virginia.
3. It shall be lawful for the said company, by and with the
consent of the stockholders in gencral meeting assemb!ed, to
borrow moncy for the purposes of this act, at a rate of in-
terest not excceding that allowed by law; to issue certificates
of said loan, and to pledge any and all the property of said
company, by mortgage or otherwise, for the payment of the
same, and the interest that may accrue thercon.
4. This act shall be in force‘from its passage.
