Chap. 290.-An ACT to Contirm the Action of the Stockholders uf the
Upper Appomattox Company in regard to the issue of Certain Bond.
Approved March 29, 1875
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the action
of the stockholders of the "U pper Appomattox company st,
their mecting in the city of Petersburg, on the eighteeuth
day of December, eighteen hundred and seventy-two, em:
powering and directing the superintendents of said company
to issue the bonds of said company, secured by a mortgas
upon the company’s property, for an amount not exceediny
thirty thousand dollars, bearing interest at a rate not es-
ceeding ten per centum per annum, and payable at such term
of years as said superintendents may deem best, and to se.
the said bonds at a price not less than ninety cents in the
dollar, be and the same is hereby confirmed, and the action
of said superintendents in issuing the said bonds under ani
by virtue of the resolutions aforesaid, is hereby expressly
confirmed and rendered legal and binding upon said com
pany; and also full force and effect. is hereby given to any
mortgage whieh may have been heretofore or may hereafter
be executed by said company, acting through said superin-
tendents or other duly authorized officers, to secure said
nds: provided, however, that the proceeds of tho salo of
d bonds shall be in the first place applied to the payment
the sum duo by said company to the state of Virginia for
> purchase of the stock which was held by the state in
d company, and which has been purchased of the state by
d company: provided further, that upon the payment by
d Upper Appomattox company of the amount in full of
+ purchase money, twelve thousand five hundred dollars

perintendents of said company, for the said company, at
pense of the company, all right, title and interest the state
