Chap. 228.—An ACT to amend sections 13, 18, and 19 of bapter 18 af -
the Code, and to provide for a Law Library at Staunton and Wyth~ ;
ville.
Approved March 25, 1875.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That section:
thirteen, eighteen, and nineteen of chapter eighteen of the
Code of eighteen hundred and seventy-three, be amendei
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 13. There shall be annually procured such books in law,
literature, science, and the arts, and such maps and charts,
as it may scem to the committee desirable to procure. After
making the’ purchases necessary for the state library, the
committee shall cause to be purchased, out of the library
fund, such books as may be required by the judges for the
law libfaries at Staunton and Wytheville: provided, that not
more than three hundred dollars shall be expended in any
one year, after this year, in the purchase of books for each
of the libraries at Wytheville and Staunton.
§ 18. There shall be three law libraries—one at Staunton,
one at Wytheville, and the other at the state capital. The
court shall appoint one of its officers at Staunton, Wytbe-
ville, and the capital, respectively, to perform the duties of
librarian. So much of the same library at the capital as the
court of appeals may direct, shall be put up in the apart-
ment in the state courthouse fitted up for its reception, and
shall be under the control of the court, subject to such privi-
reges to other persons as may be allowed by law, or by the
rules established by the court.
§ 19. The general librarian shall have placed in the law
libraries at Staunton, Wytheville, and the state courthouse,
a copy of every law book which may be hereafter published
for the commonwealth, as soon after the publication thereof
as it can conveniently be done. He shall also transmit to
the libraries at Staunton and Wytheville, copies of such law
books from the library at the capital as the judges may from
time to time designate.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage. @
