Chap. 66.—An ACT to Provide for the Assessment and Collection of State
Taxes within the Town of Suffolk, Nansemond County.
Approved February 7%, 1873.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the sergeant of the town of Suffolk, Nansemond county, or
other collector of the taxes assessed by the laws of said town,
shall be the collector of the state taxes, on the same terms and
conditions as collectors of townships are now required to col-
lect the same, anything in any law to the contrary notwith-
standing. |
2. That the assessor for the said town of Suffolk, under the
laws of said town, shall also be the assessor for the state within
the limits of said town, anything in any law to the contrary
notwithstanding.
3. Before the said sergeant or collector and said assessor
shall enter upon the discharge of their respective duties, they
shall execute bond before the judge of Nansemond county
court, in a penalty (the said sergeant or collector of two thou-
sand dollars, and said assessor of five hundred dollars), faith-
fully to discharge the duties of their respective offices.
4. This act shall be in force from and after its passage.
