Chap. 358.—JOINT RESOLUTION in Relation to the sale of the State’s
Interest in the Richmond and Danville Railroad Company or other In-
ternal Improvement Companies in the State.
Approved April 2, 1873.
Whereas, the report of the special committee appointed un-
der a resolution of the house of delegates to examine into the
sale and transfer of the state’s stock in the Richmond -and
Danville Railroad Company indicates that the sum of twenty-
six thousand five hundred and seventy one dollars is due to
the state from the said company, on account of error of settle-
ment against the state in the discount of bonds paid, which
would have been due at future dates, and also that the state
may still have an interest to the extent of twelve thousand
shares of stock in the said company: therefore,
1. Resolved by the house of delegates, the senate concurring.
That the attorney-general of the state be and he is hereby au.
thorized to associate with himself such other counsel as he may
select, and that they be instructed to enquire whether there are
any unsatisfied rights and claims on the part of the common-
wealth, growing out of the sale and transfer of the state’s in-
terest in the stock of the Richmond and Danville Railroad
Company, or other internal, inprovement companies, and i
deemed proper in their judgment to take the necessary lega!
steps to assert the same.
