Chap. 344.—An ACT to Amend and Re-enact an Act passed December
19th, 1866, entitled an Act Authorizing the Southwestern Virginia
Mining, Smelting and Transportation Company to Construct a Rail-
road from King’s Salt Works to a point on the Virginia and Tennessee
- Railroad, at or near Dublin. ,

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
sections one, two and eight of an act passed December nine-
teenth, eighteen hundred and sixty-six, entitled an act author-
izing the Southwestern Virginia Mining, Smelting and Trans-
portation Company to construct a railroad from King’s Salt
Works to a point on the Virginia and Tennessee railroad,
at or near Dublin, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as
follows: ,
§ 1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the Southwestern Virginia Mining, Smelting and Transpor-
tation Company be and they are hereby authorized to con-
struct a railroad from some point at or near King’s Salt: Works,
so as to connect with the branch of the Atlantic, Mississippi
and Ohio railroad running to that point; thence in an easterly
direction through the valley between little Bushy and Walker's
big mountain to Sharon; and from thence in the same direc-
tion down Walker's creek valley between the said mountains
to the confluence of Walker's Big and Little creeks, near
Thomas Shannon's; and from thence along the most practica-
ble route to a point on the Atlantic, Mississippi and Ohio rail-
road, at or near Central depot, passing from the point first
named through the counties of Smyth, Bland, Giles, and, pos-
sibly, Pulaski.
§ 2. The said road shall be commenced within two years Time fo
