Chap. 283.—An ACT to Incorporate the Woodstock and Lost River Turn-
pike Company.
Approved March 29, 1873.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That for the pur-
pose of constructing a turnpike road from the town of Wood-
stock, in Shenandoah county, to some point on the line of
Hardy county, West Virginia, said turnpike to pass by Co-
lumbia furnace and Liberty furnace in said county of Shenan-
doah, it shall be lawful to open books of subscription to an
amount not exceeding fifty thousand dollars, to be divided into
shares of twenty-five dollars each. The said books shall be
opened at Woodstock under the direction of J. W. Dannu, P. W.
Magruder, John H. Grabill, Jacob B. Clomer and Wiliam Don-
aldson; at Columbia furnace, under the direction of Franklin
H. Wissler, Philip Helsley, Samuel C. Campbell, Robert Stone
and A. Martin; at Liberty furnace, under the direction of Ben-
jamin P. Newman, B. F. Coffman, Jacob R. Miller, Joseph
Brumbaugh and William H. Irwin, any three of whom may act
at either place, and at such other place or places, and under
the direction of such agents as any three of the above named
commissioners may appoint.
2. When two hundred shares shall have been subscribed, the
subscribers, their executors, administrators and assigns, shall
be, and are hereby incorporated into a company by the name
and style of the Woodstock and Lost river Turnpike Company,
conformable to the provisions of the Code of Virginia and acts
amendatory thereof; provided, however, that the subscribers to
the stock of said company may, at the election of the share-
holders; pay the amount of their subscription or any part
thereof, either in money or labor, work and services at such
rates or price as may be fixed by the board of directors of said
company
. 3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
