Chap. 214.—An ACT Incorporating the Woodstock and Wardensville
Turnpike Company.
Approved March 22, 1873.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That for the pur-
pose of constructing a turnpike road from the town of Wood-
stock, in Shenandoah county, to some point on the line of
Hardy county, West Virginia, said turnpike to pass Van Buren
furnace, in said county of Shenandoah, it shall be lawful to
open books of subscription to an amount not exceeding fifty
thousand dollars, to be divided into shares of twenty-five dol-
lars each. The said books shall be opened at Woodstock
under the direction of P. E. Hushom, S. A. Danner, Lewis
Kinesley, S. V. R. Clower and J. H. Grabill; at Fairview
under the direction of Joseph Maphis, John Sager, David F.
Smoot, Eli Coffelt and John Sager; at Van Buren furnace
under the direction of Frank King, Snowden Whittaker, John
Wittington, Magus Orndorff and John 8S. Beohm, any three
of whom may act at either place, and at such other place or
places, and under the direction of such agents as any three of
the above named commissioners may appoint.
2. When two hundred shares shall have been subscribed,
the subscribers, their executors, administrators and assigns,
shall be and are hereby incorporated into a company, by the
name and style of the Woodstock and Wardensville Turnpike
Company, conformable to the provisions of the Code of Vir-
ginia and acts amendatory thereof: provided, however, that.
the subscribers to stock of said company may, at the election
of stockholders, pay the amount of their subscription, or any
part thereof, either in money or labor, work and services, at
such rates or price as may be fixed by the board of directors.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
