57 of the Corde of 1860, as to the pleading of Usury by Chartered Com-
panies.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the thirty-
eighth section of chapter fifty-seven of the Code of eighteen
hundred and sixty, be amended and re-enacted so as to read.
as follows:
Usury not to be pleaded by corporations.
§ 38. No corporation shall hereafter interpose the defence of
usury in any action; nor shall any bond, note, debt or contract.
of such corporation be set aside, impaired or adjudged invalid
by reason of anything contained in the laws prohibiting usury.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
