Chap. 136.—An ACT to Authorize the Issue of Duplicate Land War
rants, &c., where the Originals have been Lost or Destroyed.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section one of an act entitled an act to increase the price of
treasury warrants for land in Virginia, and to repeal an act
passed fourth January, eighteen hundred and sixty-six, entitled
an act prohibiting the further entry of waste and unappropri-
ated lands or any grant of such, passed seventh February,
eighteen hundred and sixty-six, be amended and re-enacted so
as to read as follows:
§1. That treasury warrants for waste and unappropriated
lands in Virginia shall hereafter be issued upon the payment
into the treasury of one dollar for each acre of the same; but
this act shall not be construed as prohibiting the issue of du-
phcate warrants or grants where the originals have been lost
or destroyed, but where it shall be made satisfactorily to ap-
pear to the proper officer that the party applying for such du-
plicate fully complied with the requirements of the law exist-
ing at the time the said originals were issued, and that the
same have been lost or destroyed, he shall issue proper dupli-
cates thereof.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
