Chap. 77.—An ACT Authorizing Stephen Bond, late Sheriff of Carroll
County, to Collect Taxes Advanced and Paid into the Treasury by him,
which were Assessed for the year 1869. .
Approved February 8, 1872.
Whereas, it is represented to the general assembly, that Ste-
phen Bond, late sheriff of Carroll county, has fully settled and
paid into the treasury the revenue of said county for the year
eighteen hundred and sixty-nine, but still holds in his hands a
large number of uncollected tax tickets for said year, he hav-
ing advanced the money for the tax payers, and the period
having elapsed in which he is authorized by law to distrain for
the collection of said taxes: therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That it shall be
lawful for Stephen Bond, late sheriff of Carroll county, by
himself or his deputies, to have the same powers of distress
and sale as he possessed before the said term expired, to en-
force the collection of taxes due him in said county. The
right of distress and sale shall continue for the term of one
year from the first day of January, eighteen hundred and
seventy-two.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
