Chap. 55.—JOINT RESOLUTION Requesting the Congress of the United
States to Make an Appropriation for the Construction of a Free Bridge
across the Potomac River, connecting the City of Washington with Vir
ginia.
Agreed to January 30, 1872.
Whereas, an effort is now being made by the citizens of Vir-
ginia, residing in the northeastern counties of the state, to se-
cure the construction by congress of a free bridge for public
travel across the Potomac river at the city of Washington:
therefore, be it
1. Resolved (the house of delegates concurring), That the
congress of the United States is hereby respectfully solicited
to authorize and make an appropriation for the construction o:
said bridge, connecting the city of Washington with the state
of Virginia.
2. Resolved, That our senators in congress are hereby in
structed, and our representatives requested, to urgently sup
port the passage of any measure looking to the accomplishmen!
of this object. '
3. Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be forwardec
by the governor to each of the senators and representatives i1
congress from the state of Virginia.
