Chap. 49.—An ACT to Amend and Re-enact Section Two of an Act en-
titled *¢ An Act to Amend tho Charter of the Town of Winchester, in
the County of Froderick,” approved November dth, 1870.
In force February 1, 1872.
1. Be it enacted by the general Asseirnbly of Virginia, That
the second section of an act entitled “an act to amend the
charter of the town of Winchester, in the county of I'rederick,
approved November fifth, eighteen Jundred and seventy. be
amended and re-enacted so as to rend as follows:
«2. The corporation court of Winchester shall have juris-
diction only for proving and recording deeds and wills. grant-
ing certificates of probate and administration, and for granting
licenses to sell wine, ardent spirits, malt liquors, or any mix-
ture of any of them, withm the limits of the corporation. and
for enforeing the ordinances which have been, or may hereafter
be, lawfully passed by the common council of said town, by
judgments and executions for fines, or confinement and labor
for misdemeanor, under the same, and for correcting erroneous
assessments of land and lots and improvements thereon, in
said corporation, in the manner provided by law for the state:
and the said court shall not have jurisdiction in any other mat-
ter than is herein expressly provided for: provided, that all
fiduciaries who have been or hereafter may be appointed by the
said court, or have qualified therein, and all trustees in any
deed of trust recorded in said court, shall settle their accounts
before a commissioner appointed by said court: provided, fur-
ther, that the commissioner of the revenue for the town of
Winchester shall give bond and take the usual oath, as pre-
scribed by law, before said court.”
2. This act shall be in force from its passae.
