Chap. 41.—An ACT Amending Section 14 of Chapter 161 of the Code of
1860 in Relation to the Mectings and Adjournment of Circuit, County
or Corporation Courts.
Approved January 29, 1872.
+ Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That sec-
tion fourteen of chapter one hundred and sixty-one of the
Code of eighteen hundred and sixty be amended and re-enacted
so as to read henceforth as follows:
“§ 14. Though a court be not held on the first day of a
erm, it may, nevertheless, be opened on a subsequent day:
orovided, in the case of a circuit, county or corporation court,
he same be done before four o'clock on the afternoon of the
hird day. If after a court is opened it fail to sit on any day,
t may, nevertheless, sit on any subsequent day of the term:
provided, in the case of a circuit, county or corporation court,
there be not more than three consecutive days of such failure;
but a circuit court, after being in session for fifteen days, may
fake a recess for a period not exceeding fifteen days.
‘3 2. This act shall be in force from its passage.”
