Chap. 4.—An ACT to Authorizo an Increase of the Capital Stock of the
Cross Road and Summit Point Turnpike Company.
Approved December 21, 1871.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That S
in order to repair the Cross Road and Summit Point turnpike, *
it shall be lawful for Samuel J. C. Moore, Lewis Glass and P
Amasa Moore, Jr., or any one of them, to open books at Ber-
ryville, in Clarke county, to receive subscriptions to the capital
stock of said company, in shares of twenty-five dollars to the c
amount of two thousand dollars.
2. Whenever by authority of this act, and by authority of M
any law of the state of West Virginia, an aggregate sum of }'
not less than one thousand dollars shall-be subscribed, the a
president of said company, by notice published in a newspaper “
printed in Jefferson county, West Virginia, and in one printed
in Clarke county, Virginia, if there be a newspaper printed
there, may call a meeting of the stockholders of said company,
and if individual stockholders, owning two-thirds of the pri- p
vate stock of said company, agree thereto, the new subscribers °
shall be declared stockholders in said company, on an equal a
footing with the original stockholders. Persons subscribing
afterwards may be declared stockholders by the president and
directors.
3. After the stockholders have accepted the provisions of 8
this act as provided for in the second section, the state of Vir- §:
ginia shall appoint one director, and at all meetings of the
company cast a vote equal to one-fourth of the entire stock of
the company.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage. Cc
