Chap. 336.—JOINT RESOLUTIONS Recommending to Congress the
Establishment of Signal Stations at Hatteras and other Points on the
Coast of Virginia and North Carolina.
Agreed to March 25, 1872.
1. Resolved (the house of delegates concurring), That the
general assembly of Virginia, appreciating the daily weather
reports from the chief signal office at Washington, would re-
spectfully recommend to Congress the vast benefit which would
ensue to commerce and the preservation of life by establishing
signal stations at Hatteras and other points on the coast of
Virginia and North Carolina, and connecting those stations
with the telegraph lines from the city of Norfolk.
2. Resolved, That the governor be requested to communi-
cate a copy of these resolutions to the senators and represen-
tatives of Virginia in congress.
