Chap. 307.—An ACT Providing for the Increase of the Capital Stock of
Kempsville Canal Company.
In force March 26, 1872.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the act
passed February eighteenth, eighteen hundred and fifty-eight,
entitled an act increasing the capital stock of the Kempsville
Canal Company, as amended by an act passed March twenty-
sixth, eighteen hundred and sixty, be amended and re-enacted
so as to read as follows:
“8 1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the capi-
tal stock of the Kempsville Canal Company be and the same is
hereby increased to an amount not exceeding fifty thousand
dollars, twenty thousand dollars of which sum may be issued
as preferred stock, divided into such shares as the company
may deem expedient, and bearing a rate of interest not exceed-
ing ten per centum per annum, to provide for the completion
of said canal and for opening a communication between the
waters of Kennebeck sound and those emptying into Lynn-
haven river.’
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
