Chap. 269.—An ACT for the Protection of Fish in the Blackwater River
and its Tributaries.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
from and after the passage of this act it shall not be lawful for
any person or persons to cause the destruction of any fish in
the waters of the Blackwater river, or its tributaries, by reason
of the setting of fikes, or by any other method than by angling
or hand-line, during the months of April, May, June and July.
2. That any person violating the provisions of this act shall
pay the sum of ten dollars for each and every such offence, the
same to be recovered before a justice of the peace with costs,
and appropriated to the fund for the support of the county
poor-house; and, in addition, such person or persons shall for-
feit any such fike under the direction of the justice.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
