Chap. 219.—An ACT to Amend and Re-enact Section Fifty, of Chapte:
Seventy-six, of the Acts of Eighteen Hundred and Sixty-nine-Seventy
in relation to the Publication of Election Returns in Newspapers in ths
City of Richmond.
Approved March 18, 1872.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That section fifty
of chapter seventy-six, of the acts of eighteen hundred anc
sixty-nine-seventy, be and the same is hereby amended and re
enacted so as to read as follows:
“8 50. The secretary of the commonwealth shall record, in ¢
suitable book, to be kept by him in his office for that purpose
each certified statement and determination, as made by the
board of state canvassers; and shall, without delay, make ou

and transmit to cach of the persons thereby declared to be
elected (except the attorney-general, who shall be commissioned
by the governor) a certificate of his election, and certified by
him under his seal of office. And in the case of the election
of a senator, the secretary of the commonwealth shall also for-
_ward to the clerk of the senate a certificate of his election;
and in the case of the election of a member of the house of
delezates he shall forward to the clerk of the house of delezates
a certificate of his election.”
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
