Chap. 214.—An ACT to Amend and Re-enact Section Five of Chapter
Fifteen of the Code of Fightcen Hundred and Sixty, Concerning the
Duties and Privileges of Members of the General Assembly.
Approved March 18, 1872.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
section five of chapter fifteen of the Code of eighteen hundred
and sixty, concerning the duties and privileges of members
of the general assembly, be amended and re-enacted so as to
read as follows:
“§ 5. Any action, suit or other civil proceedings, either in
favor of or against a member of the general assembly, may be
commenced, but shall not, unless by his consent, be prosecuted
to final judgment or decree during his attendance upon the
general assembly. But his person shall not be taken into
custody or imprisoned.”
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
