Chap. 2,—An ACT anthorizing the Trustees of the Presbyterian Church
and Congregation at Staunton to execute a deed of trust.
Approved December 15, 1871.
Whereas, it is represented that the Presbyterian church and
congregation at Staunton, for the purpose of erecting a new
and suitable house of worship, have contracted a debt for
money borrowed, and that they are desirous of securing the
same: therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That it shall be
lawful for the legally constituted trustees of said church and
congregation to execute a deed of trust upon the house lately
used by them as a place of worship, and the lot on which it is
erected (now used as a part of the Augusta female seminary),
for the purpose of securing any debts heretofore contracted
for money borrowed to aid in the erection of their new church
building, or of securing any loan made by them for the purpose
of discharging any such debt; which deed shall be subject to
the provisions of chapter one hundred and seventeen of the
Code of Virginia, edition of 1860, and shall be as effectual as
if executed by an individual.
2. This act shall be in force from and after its passage.
