Chap. 188.—AN ACT to Authorize Election of Officers in the Town of
Tappahannock.
Approved March 14, 1872.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That in the town
of Tappahannock, in the county of Essex, in which there has
been no election of officers to which such town is entitled,
either under its charter or any general law of this common.
wealth, an election for such officers may be held on Thursday
the twenty-eighth of March, eighteen hundred and seventy.

2. The judge of the county court of said county shall select
and appoint three competent male citizens of the said town,
who shall be the judges-of the said election, and whose duties
shall be the same as those defined by an act approved May
eleventh, eighteen hundred and seventy, and the acts amenda
tory thereto, entitled an act to provide for a general election.
3. The officers so elected shall, within ten days after thei
election, qualify as is provided for by the terms of the charter.
or before the judge of the said county, or some other officer
authorized to administer oaths, and shall, as soon as they
qualify, enter upon the discharge of their duties, and continue
in office until the next general election to be held for such
town, either under its charter or any general law of the state,
and until their successors, so elected, shall have qualified.
4. This act shall be in force from its passage.
