Chap. 176.—An ACT to Authorize the Corporate Anthorities of Winches-
ter to Borrow Money to Enlarge Water Works, &c.
Approved March 18, 1872.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the president and common council of the corporation of Win-
chester, in the county of Frederick, be and they are hereby
authorized and empowered to borrow such sum or sums of
money as they may deem requisite, not exceeding thirty thou-
sand dollars, and at a rate of interest not exceeding eight per
centum per annum, for the purpose of enlarging, extending,
and otherwise improving the water works of said corporation,
and for the purpose of establishing additional water works,
purchasing the necessary land and water rights, erecting build-
ings and machinery, and purchasing and laying pipes; and
that the said president and common council be and they are
hereby authorized and empowered to issue either registered

or coupon bonds, or both, in the name of the mayor and com-
monalty of the town of Winchester, for such sums as may be
borrowed, and pledge the funds and property of said corpora-
tion for the payment of the principal and interest.
2. That all acts and parts of acts inconsistent with the pro-
visions of this act be and the same are hereby repealed.
3. This act shall commence and be in force from and after
the passage thereof.
