Chap. 138.—JOINT RESOLUTION Requesting Congress to Furnish
Virginia her Quota of Arima.
Agreed to February 27, 1872.
Whereas, the state is in great need of arms and equipments
for her militia, which she is not able to purchase, and must
rely upon obtaining from the government of the United States ;
and whereas, it is beleved that some errors have been made in
the account of the war department with this state under the
acts of congress of twenty-third April. eizhteen hundred and
eieht, and third March, eighteen Jrundred and _ fifty-five, pro-
viding for_the arming and equipping of the militia of the sev-
eral states, by which “the quota of Virginia, under said act, has
been unduly lessened: therefore,
Be it resolved by the house of delegates (the senate concur-
rin), That our senators and representatives be requested to
take such action as to them shall seem proper, to secure the
correction of any errors which may have been made, and the
restoration of the full quota to which this state is entitled
under the acts of cighteen hundred and eicht and cighteen
hundred and. fifty-five, and to obtain for this state sufticient
arms and equipments to arm and equip her militia.
Resolved, That the governor be requested to forward copies
of these resolutions to our senators and representatives.
