Chap. 84.—An ACT to Re-enact and Amend the Ist, 2d, 3d and 4th Sec-
tions of Chapter 14 of the Code of Virginia.
Approved February 21, 1871.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the first,
second, third and fourth sections of chapter fourteen, of the
Code (edition of eighteen hundred and sixty), be re-enacted
and amended so as to read as follows :
“§ 1. The several officers hereinafter mentioned shall receive
annually the following sums (and no additional clerks shall here-
after be employed in the offices of the auditor of public ac-
counts, second auditor or treasurer), that is to say:
“In the executive department.
“The governor the sum of five thousand dollars; the secre-
tary of the commonwealth twenty-five hundred dollars; the
assistant clerk, fifteen hundred dollars, and the copying clerk,
twelve hundred dollars; the superintendent of weights and
measures three hundred dollars, and the act passed February
twenty-first, 1866, entitled an act charging upon the public
treasury certain allowances heretofore authorized to be made
out of the library fund is hereby repealed.
““ In the office of the auditor of public accounts.
“§2. The auditor of public accounts the sum of three
thousand dollars, but all fees of office accruing to the auditor
shall be paid into the treasury; the clerk of accounts two
thousand dollars; the two first clerks sixteen hundred dollars
each; the two second clerks thirteen hundred dollars each;
the three third clerks twelve hundred dollars each; the two
fourth clerks one thousand dollars each.
“ In second auditor's office.
“§ 3. The second auditor the sum of two thousand dollars ;
the first clerk sixteen hundred dollars; the second clerk thir-
teen hundred dollars; the three third clerks twelve hundred
dollars each.
“Tn treasurer's office.
“§ 4, The treasurer two thousand dollars; the first clerk
sixteen hundred dollars; the second clerk thirteen hundred
dollars; the third clerk twelve hundred dollars.”
2. All acts and parts of acts inconsistent herewith are re-
pealed.
3. This act to be in force from its passage.
