Chap. 52.—An ACT to Legalize the Election of Attorney for the Common-
wealth for the Counties of Wise and Buchanan.
Approved January 25, 1871.
1, Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
the election for attorney for the commonwealth, for the coun-
ties of Wise and Buchanan, held on the day of Novem-
ber, eighteen hundred and seventy, be and the same is hereby
legalized and made valid.
. It shall be lawful for I. W. McBroom, elected attorney
for the commonwealth for said counties at said election, to
take and hold said offices, subject to all existing laws, or laws
hereafter to be enacted in relation thereto : provided, that the
clause of the first section of an act entitled an act prescribing
the duties and compensation of county officers, approved July
eleventh, eighteen hundred and seventy, as amended by the
act approved November first, eighteen hundred and seventy,
which provides that the officers mentioned in this section shall,
at the time of their election, reside in the county for which
they are elected, and the removal of any such officer from the
county in which he resided when elected, shall vacate his office,
shall not be applicable to the offices of attorney for the com-
monwealth for said counties.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
