Chap. 255.—An ACT to Amend and Re-enact the 11th Section of Chapter
101 of the Code Regulating the Potomac Fisheries,
Approved March 29, 1871.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the eleventh
section of the one hundred and first chapter of the Code of
Virginia of eighteen hundred and sixty, be amended and re-
enacted so as to read as follows:
“§ 11. No person shall haul, drift or fish any seine or gill net
within the waters, bounds or berth of any regularly hauled
fishing landing, or opposite to any part of the shore of the
owner or occupier of any fishery, between the first day of
March and the tirst day of June in each year, without the per-
mission of the owner or occupier of such fishing landing; nor
shall any such owner or occupier, or any other person or per-
sons, lay out and fish with any seine or net inthe Potomac river
or its tributaries, between five o’clock on Sunday morning, and
five o’clock on Monday morning. Any person offending against
any provision of this section, shall be subject to the penalties
and forfeitures prescribed by the twelfth section of this chap-
ter, and to the other provisions of said section.”
2, Be it further enacted, That this act shall commence and
be in force from and after the enactment of a similar law by
the state of Maryland.
