Chap. 175.—An ACT to Amend and Re-enact the 8d Section of an Act
Amending the Charter of the City of Lynchburg, Passed December 8,
1866.
Approved March 22, 1871.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the third
section of an act entitled an act amending the charter of the
city of Lynchburg, passed December eighth, eighteen hundred
and sixty-six, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as fol-
lows:
“§ 3. That for said corporation there shall be a mayor, and
there shall be a board called the council of the city of Lynch-
burg, which shall be composed of fifteen members or more, ac-
cording as the number of wards of said city shall be increased.
The several wards of said city shall be respectively represented
in said city council by not less than three nor more than five
councilmen, who shall be residents of their respective wards,
and they shall be elected by the qualified voters in their respec-
tive wards.”
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
