Chap. 144.—An ACT for the Relief of James C. Robertson, late Sheriff of
Page County, and his Sureties.
Appreved March 18, 1871.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
authority is kereby given to the auditor of public accounts to
suspend the collection of judgments, in the name of the com-
monwealth, against J. C. Robertson, late sheriff of Page
county, and Reuben Ruffner, George W. Sedwick, Turner E.
Jett, Peter B. Borst, John R. Almond, and John H. Keyser,
his sureties, till the first day of November, eighteen hundred
and seventy-one: provided, that he is satisfied that the same
is sufficiently secured by. judgment liens.
2. The said James C. Robertson shall be allowed credit for
such taxes for the year eighteen hundred and sixty-nine as
may be returned delinquent by Turner E. Jett, who has been
authorized to collect the taxes remaining in the hands of said
Robertson, uncollected at the date of his removal from office :
provided, the auditor of public accounts shall deem it just and
equitable, under the circumstances, that such credits shall be
allowed.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
