Chap. 7.—JOINT RESOLUTION in regard to a Temporary Guard for the
Penitentiary.
Approved February 18, 1870.
Whereas, present urgent necessity exists for an increase of
the guard at the state penitentiary,
Resolved, That (with the concurrence of the senate,) the
superintendent of the penitentiary be and is hereby authorized
to employ such temporary guards, not exceeding twenty, as
may be required to secure order and the safety of the prison-
ers until a permanent provision is made by the general assem-
bly: provided, that the approval of the governor shall be first
obtained, and shall be necessary for the continuance of this
additional force beyond sixty days.
