Chap. 55.—An ACT amending the Ist section of an act Incorporating the
Lynchburg Mining and Manufacturing Company.
Passed April 19, 1867.
1. Be it enacted by the eeneral assembly, That the first
seclion of an act incorporating the Lynchburg mining and
mManulacturing company, in the counties of Campbell and
Bedford, passed March the first, eighteen hundred and fifty-
six, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
“$1. That Lewis P. Brooke, Stephen Calwell, Howell
Fisher, Harvy S. Paw, Thomas H.W alker, Samuel Caughlin,
Thomas IL. Shellarberger, Ik. EB. Deane,’ Jr.. t together with
such other persons as may hereafter be associated with them,
shall be and they are hereby incorporated and made a body
politic and corporate, by the name and style of The Lynch-
burg Mining and Manutacturing Company, tor the purpose of
manutie turing and working iron and steel, making railroad
machinery, and mining for and manufacturing mineral and
vegetable substances; “and they aré hereby inv vested with all
the rights, powers and privileges conferred on such bodies
politic and corporate, and subject to all the restrictions and
regulations in relation to joint stock companies and corpora-
tions generally, contained in the Code of Virginia, and any
law amendatory thereof, excepting where the same may be
Inconsistent with this act.”
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
