Chap. 38.—An ACT to incorporate the Scottsville Woollen Manufacturing
Company,
Passed April 13, 1867.
1, Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
fohn O. Lewis, W illiam Branch, Isane R. Barksdale, Zach.
.. Lewis and James C. Hill, and such other persons as may
ve hereafter associated with them, shall be and they are
ereby incorporated and made a body politic and corporate,
inder the name and style of The Scottsville Woollen Manu-
acturing Company, for the purpose of manufacturing woollen
nd cotton goods and other articles x, at Scottsville, in the
ounty of Albemarle; and are hereby invested with all the
rivileges and powers conferred on such bodies politic and
‘orporate, and subject to all the restrictions and limitations
contained in the Code of Virginia, title eighteen, chapter
uty -seven, in relation to joint stoc tk companies.
Jobn O. Lewis, William Branch. Isaac R. Barksdale,
rch, hk. Lewis, James C. Hill, Wenry Gantt and George W.
vilmer are hereby appointed commissioners, any three of
whom may act, to open books of subscriptions for the capital
stock of said company at such times and places as they may
Ippoint.
The capital stock of said company shall not be less than
twenty thousand doliars, nor more than one hundred thou-
sand dollars, to be divided into shares of fifty dollars each;
and the said company shall have the right to purchase and
at land not exceeding tive hundred acres at any one time.
That the Scottsville woollen manufactur ing company be
wi the same is hereby authorized to borrow, on security of
Its property, money ‘to an amount not exceeding tw enty
thousand dollars, at such rate of interest as may be azreed
upon.
This act shall be in force from its passage, and shall be
subject to any amendments, alterations or modifications, at
the pleasure of the general assembly.
