CHAPTER 8

An act fiminy the time for holding elections for Repre-
sentatives in Congress, and to fill vacancies m the Gane:
ral Assembly.

Passed June 22d, 1865.

Sxo. 1. Be tt enacted by the General Assembly of
Virginia, That elections shall be held in the several Con-
gressional districts of this State for Representatives in the
Congress of the United States on the second Thursday in
October, eighteen hundred and sixty five.

Sro. 2. Be it further enacted, That elections shall be
held on the said day, in the several counties and corpora-
tions in which such elections have not already been held,
for members of the General Assembly.

Szo. 8. And be it further enacted, That the said elec-
tions shall be held and conducted, and returns and certifi-
cates thereof made, and the like proceedings had in relation
thereto in all respects, as prescribed by existing laws, ex-
cepting where such laws shall be inconsistent with this act.

Sxo. 4. And be it further enacted, That this act shaJl
be in force from its passage.
