CHAPTER 12

An act to amend the First Section of an act, passed March
third, eighteen hundred and siaty five, imposing tames
Sor the support of the Government for the year erghteen
‘hundred and sixty five.

Passed June 23d, 1865.

Src. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Virginia, That the act passed by the General Assembly of
Virginia on the third day of March, eighteen hundred and
sixty-five, for the purpose of raising taxes, be amended and
re-enacted so as to read as follows: On tracts of land and
lots, with the improvements thereon, not exempt from taxa-
tion, twenty cents on every hundred dollars value thereof ;
and herein shall be included all tracts of land and lots, with
the improvements thereon, not exempt from taxation, of in-
corporated companies, savings institutions and insurance
companies.
Src. 2. Be it enacted, That this act shall be in force
from and after its passage.
