Chap. 83.—An ACT to incorporate Ever True Division, No. 32, Sons
of Temperance, of City Point, Prince George county, Virginia.

Whereas there has existed for some time past in the county
of Prince George an association of colored persons known as
Ever True Division, Number Thirty-two, Sons of Temperance,
the purposes and objects of which are solely benevolent and
charitable, which by the contribution of its members has accu-
mulated funds which if properly invested in the purchase of
real estate will more effectually enable said association to
carry out the purposes of their organization, and to that end
desire an act of incorporation ; therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
Edward D. Bland, Edward Ellis, William H. Harrison, Wil-
liam M. Moody, John Williams, Sandy Stills, and such other
persons as are now or may hereafter become members of the
association, be and they are hereby made a body politic and
corporate by the name and style of Ever True Division, Lodge
Number Thirty-two, Sons of Temperance, and by that name
may sue and be sued, plead and be impleaded, in all the courts
of this commonwealth.
2. The objects of this corporation shall be to take care of
its sick and destitute members, to bury its dead, to support
the widows and orphan children of its members, and encourage
and promote good morals and knowledge among its members
and their families.
3. The said corporation may take and hold so much real and
personal estate as may be suitable for its objects either within
br in the immediate vicinity of City Point, Prince George
county, not to exceed in value five thousand dollars.
4. The place of business of said corporation shall be in the
county of Prince George, and it may make such by-laws, rules
and regulations consistent with the laws of this state and the
United States as it may deem proper for the government of
its members, the management of its affairs and for the use,
enjoyment and control of its property.
5. The legislature reserves to itself the right to modify or
repeal this act at pleasure.
6. This act shall be in force froin its passaye.
