CHAP. 78.—An ACT to amend and re-enact the first section of chap-
ter 130, Acts of 1878 and ’79, entitled an act to attach the school
districts of Dan River, Tunstall and North Danville, in Pittsylvania
county, to the city of Danville, for purposes of school supervision.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That section one,
chapter one hundred and thirty, Acts of eighteen hundred and
seventy-eight and eighteen hundred and seventy-nine, of an
act entitled an act to attach the school districts of Dan River,
Tunstall and North Danville, in Pittsylvania county, to the
city of Danville, for purposes of school supervision, be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
$1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the school
districts of Dan River, Tunstall and North Danville, in the
county of Pittsylvania, shall be attached to the city of Dan-
ville for the purposes of school supervision. The superintend-
ent of schools of the city of Danville shall have the same
duties and privileges with respect to the school districts above
named as are at present devolved upon the superintendent of
schools for the county of Pittsylvania. But in all other re-
spects the school affairs of these three districts shall be under
the same control as at present. The superintendent of schools
for Danville shall not be a member of the county school board,
but he shall have the privilege and it shall be his duty to meet
with the county school board whenever the interest of the
schools of Dan River, Tunstall and North Danville districts are
involved, and he shall be at liberty to make motions and ad-
dress the board with as much freedom as a member. It shall
be his duty also to render all proper aid in securing appropria-
tions from the board of supervisors and to co-operate with the
authorities of the county in securing the school interest of said
districts.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
