CHAP. 301.—An ACT to incorporate the Alexandria Reform Club.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That William F.
Padgett, George Maxwell, W. L. Penn, W. J. Summers, O. F.
Baggett, L. D. Harrison, and such other persons as may here-
after be associated with them, shall be and are hereby consti-
tuted a body politic and corporate under the name and style of
The Alexandria Reform Club, for the advancement of the prin-
ciples and practice of sobriety and temperance, and shall have
perpetual succession and a common seal, may sue and be sued,
plead and be impleaded, with power to purchase, receive and
hold personal and real estate, not to exceed twenty thousand
dollars at any one time, and to sell, exchange and otherwise
dispose of said property for the purposes of the corporation.
2. The said club shall have power to provide for the admis-
sion and expulsion of members, and for the election and re-
moval of officers, to enforce the payment of fines and forfeit-
ures, and to make and enforce such by-laws, rules and regula-
tions not contrary to the laws of this state or of the United
States as the said club shall deem for the best interest of the
corporation.
8. This act shall be in force from its passage.
