CHAP. 234.—An ACT to amend an act entitled an act to incorporate
the Dan Valley and Yadkin River Narrow-Gauge Railroad Compa.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
it shall be lawful to open books of subscription at the town of
Danville, Virginia, and such other places as the commissioners
hereinafter named shall designate, under the direction of C. G.
Holland, E. B. Withers, F. M. Hamlin, Daniel Coleman, F. B.
Gravely, Charles W. Venable, Smith, J. T. Morehead,
Peter W. Hairston, J. G. Broadnax, Joseph H. Scales, S. G.
Sheffield, W. T. Sutherlin, J. M. Neal, J. E. Shoalfield, W. P.
Robinson, J. R. Wilson, John F. Rison, R. L. Hickson, H. W.
Cole, T. J. Talbott, H. D. Guerrant, John R. Pace, Thomas
Rainey, S. H. Holland, J. R. Herndon, Leonard W. Henry, J.
McGehee, J. B. Vaughan and Benjamin Bailey, or any five of
them, and such other persons as they may appoint, for the pur-
pose of receiving subscriptions to the capital stock of the Dan
Valley and Yadkin River Narrow-Gauge railroad company to
an amount not exceeding five hundred thousand dollars, in
shares of one hundred dollars each, to constitute a joint capi-
tal stock for the construction of a railroad from the town of
Danville, Virginia, or some point on the line of the Danville
and New River railroad, up or near the Dan River valley, in
the direction of Leaksville, North Carolina, to the North Caro-
lina line.
2. Be it further enacted, That whenever five thousand dol-
lars shall have been subscribed to the capital stock of said road,
whether by individuals, corporations, cities or towns, the sub-
scribers, their executors, administrators and assigns shall be
and they are hereby declared and constituted a body politic
and corporate under the name and style of the Dan Valley and
Yadkin River Narrow-Gauge Railroad Company, and as such
shall be entitled to all the privileges conferred and subject to all
the restrictions imposed by the Code of Virginia, edition of eigh-
teen hundred and seventy-three, and acts amendatory thereof,
so far as the same are applicable and not inconsistent with this
act.
