CHAP. 175.—An ACT amending the charter of the town of Grundy,
in Buchanan county.
Approved March 4, 1880.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
whenever anything for which a state license is required is to be
done or carried on within the corporate limits of the town of
Grundy, in Buchanan county, Virginia, the council of said town
may require a town license to be had for doing or carrying on
such business or occupation, and may impose a tax thereon for
the use of said town. The revenue from those and other
sources shall be collected, paid over and accounted for at such
times and to such persons as said council may order: pro-
vided, that it shall be fawful for the qualified voters within
said corporate limits of said town to decide by vote, at a
special election to be held for that purpose on the first Monday
in April, eighteen hundred and eighty, and annually thereafter,
the question of license or no license to sell ardent spirits in
the town of Grundy, or within one mile of the corporate limits
thereof, either in connection with an ordinary or otherwise, and
should a majority vote against license, no such license shall be
granted for the ensuing twelve months by any person or per-
sons having the authority to grant license.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
