CHAP. 111.—An ACT giving the consent of this state to the acquisi-
tion by the government of the United States of so inuch land as
may be necessary for a public building in the city of Danville.

n 1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That
f the consent of the state of Virginia is hereby given and granted
to the purchase or acquisition by the government of the United
States, or under the authority of the same, of so much land as
may be required for a site for a public building for the
accommodation of the circuit and district courts of the United
States, the post-office and internal revenue offices, in the city
of Danville, county of Pittsylvania and state of Virginia.
2. That this state retains concurrent jurisdiction with the
United States over such land, so that courts, magistrates and
officers of this state may take such cognizance, execute such
process, and discharge such other legal functions within the
same as may not. be incompatible with the consent hereby
given.
3. The lots, parcels or tracts of land so acquired, together
with the tenements and appurtenances for the purposes before
mentioned, shall be held exempt from all state, county and
municipal taxation so long as the United States shall be and
remain the owners thereof.
4. This act shall be in furce from its passage.
