Chap. 527.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 3944 of the Code of Virginia.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
thirty-nine hundred and forty-four of the Code of Virginia be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
§ 3944. Inquisition, evidence, and so forth, to be returned to court;
witnesses to be recognized.—The coroner ghall return to the circuit court
of his county or corporation court of his corporation the inquisition,
written testimony, and recognizances by him taken; and if the jury find
that murder, manslaughter, or assault had been committed on the de
ceased, shall require such witnesses as he thinks proper to give a recog-
nizance to appear and testify at such court when it sils for the trial of
the accused.
2. This act shall be in force on and after February first, nineteen
hundred and four.
