Chap. 474.—An ACT to amend and re-enact section 1991 of the Code of Virginia.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That section
nineteen hundred and nincty-one of the Code of Virginia be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:

$1991. Appointment of ballast masters.—The circuit court of every
county and corporation court of every corporation, adjacent to any bay or
navigable river or creek, shall annually appoint one or more ballast mas-
ters to superintend the “de livering and unlading of ballast within a dis-
trict (embracing places where vessels usually ride in any such bay, river,
or creek), to be designated in the order of appointment, and thegharbor
miasters appointed by the council of the city of Alexandria shall act as
ballast masters for the port of said city.

2. This act shall be in force on and after Iebruary first, nineteen
hundred and four.
