Chap. 470.—An ACT to amend and re-enact the fourth article of section 183 of
the Code of Virginia, as amended and re-enacted by an act entitled an act to
amend and re-enact title 8 of the Code of Virginia, in relation to salaries, mile-
age, and other allowances, approved February 7, 1903.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That article
four of section one hundred and eighty-three of the Code, as amended
id re-enacted by the act entitled an act to amend and re-enact title
xht of the Code of Virginia, in relation to salaries, mileage, and other
lowances, approved February seventh, nineteen hundred and three, be
nended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Fourth. Of auditor of public accounts and his clerke.—The auditor
public accounts, the sum of four thousand dollars, but all fees of office
cruing to him shall be paid into the treasury. He shall have power to
ypoint such clerical force as he may deem necessary to the efficiency of
s department, and to apportion such salaries among his several clerks
he may think proper, bul the aggregate amount paid such clerks shall
yt exceed the sum of twelve thousand six hundred and fifty dollars
r annum. He shall also have power to employ a receiving and for-
urding clerk and messenger, at a salary not exceeding éleven hundred
lars per annum, and to expend for the contingent expenses of his
fice a sum not exceeding fifteen hundred dollars.
2. This act shall-be in force from and after February first, nineteen
indred and four.
