Chap. 977.—An ACT for the relief of D. W.S. Knight, a wounded Confederate
soldier.
Approved March 4, 1598.
Whereas D. W. 8S. Knight, of the county of Stafford and state of Vir-
ginia, an ex-Confederate soldier, was wounded by a bullet through the
left cheek and ear, which caused the loss of an eye, while in the Confed-
erate service during the war between the states, at "Fetterman, in Tavlor
county, West Virzinia, so asto render him unfit for manual labor: and
Whereas said D. W.S. Knight made application for commutation in
che county court of Stafford, and his disabilities were approved, and the
same were approved in order to be certified to the auditor of public ac-
counts by the judgeof said county, which was done; but as this special
case is not in the class described in the general statutes as entitled to a
pension of thirty dollars per annum, said auditor could not place said
I night’s name upon the roll, yet he isequitably entitled to the same:
therefore,
1. Beit enacted bv the general assembly of Virginia, That the auditor
of public accounts of Virginia be, and heis hereby, directed and author-
ized to place the name of D. W.S8. Knight onthe pension roll as entitled
to fifteen dollars per annum for partial disability: provided, that the facts
herein alleged shall be certified to be true by the county court of Stafford
to the auditor of public accounts.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
