Chap. 515.—An ACT to exempt those engaged in the publication of newspapers
from being required to obtain a license fur the privilege or right of printing or
publishing the same in the cities, towns and counties in this state.

Approved February 25, 1498.

1. Beit enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the councils

af any inanrnnratad aity ar tawn oar haar] af annervianre of any countv
in this state shall not require a license to be obtained for the privilege or
right of printing or publishing any newspaper in said cities, towns or
counties. But this act shall in no manner be construed so as to exempt
those so engaged in the publication of newspapers, upon the payment of
tax upon the plant, machinery, capital or other property so used in such
business, or upon the income derived therefrom.

2. — acts or parts of acts inconsistent with this act are hereby re-
pealed.

3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
