Chap. 239.—An ACT to anthorize and empower the board of supervisors of Am-
herst county to issue bonds for the purpose of repairing and macadamizing the
public roads of the county.
Approved February 8, 1898.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That the board
of supervisors of Amherst county be, and they are hereby, authorized
and empowered; in their discretion, to issue bonds of the county, coupon
or registered, to an amount not exceeding elghty thousand dollars, said
bonds to be isstied in denominations of five hundred and one thousand
dollars, and to run for twenty years, bearing interest at a rate not exceed-
ing five per centum per annum, payable semi-annually or annually, the
funds arising from the sale of said bonds to be used for the purpose of
reparing and macadamizing the public roads of Amherst county, by and
under the absolute management of the road board of the county under
sur. h regulations and plans as it may adopt.
The bonds authorized to be issued under this act shall be signed
by the chairman of the said board of supervisors and countersigned by
its clerk, and under the official seal of the county.
3. This act shall be in force from its passage.
