Chap. 606.—An ACT to authorize the auditor of public accounts to credit the
treasurer of Northampton county with lost or misplaced school warrants.
Approved March 3, 1804.
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That upon
the production of evidence satisfactory to the auditor of public ac-
counts that school warrant number seventy-two, for four thousand
and three dollars and twelve cents, dated the twenty-eighth day of
September, eighteen hundred and ninety-one, for the county of
Northampton, has been lost or misplaced, and that the amount of said
warrant has been paid in full by the treasurer of said county upon
orders of the proper school authorities of said county, the said audi-
tor is hereby authorized to credit said treasurer with the same from
the date it was issued: provided that said auditor shall take from the
said treasurer a bond of. indemnity, with proper security, for six
thousand dollars, to save the commonwealth harmless in case said
warrant should not have been lost or destroyed or should hereafter
be produced or should appear to be unpaid, in whole or in part, but
all the costs of said application to the auditor shall be borne by the
said county treasurer.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.
